App guide

Every button, explained.

FutFriend looks the same on Mac and Windows: one window, with your consoles on the left, the PS5's live picture in the middle and the settings of the chosen mode on the right. This guide goes through it button by button: what each one does and what the bot does when you press it.

The screenshots use made-up data: a console called My PS5 and a card called Player 82. The console's picture is replaced with a plain drawing of a pitch.

First start

The first time you open FutFriend, the window starts with Set up FutFriend: three steps, once on this computer. The setup guide on the main page shows the same steps with pictures from the PS5.

The Set up FutFriend dialog: Sign in with PlayStation, Pair a PS5 and the checklist before the first match.
  1. 1
    Sign in to PlayStation Network

Sign in with PlayStation opens PlayStation's own sign-in page; FutFriend never sees your password. If the page shows a QR code, scan it with your phone's camera, not with the PlayStation App. If the sign-in window stays open after you sign in, open The window did not close by itself?, paste the address the window ended on (it starts with https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/redirect) and click Use this address.

  2. 2
    Pair your PS5

Pair a PS5 pairs your console once with the 8-digit code from its screen. It works after signing in. See Add a console.

  3. 3
    Before the first match

FC 27 installed and in English, your own controller off, the PS5 set not to sleep during play.

  4. ✓
    Done

Closes the setup. You can open it again any time: Settings › This Mac (This PC on Windows) › PlayStation sign-in and consoles. There you can also sign in with another account.

03

Connecting to your PS5

Before the bot can do anything, the window has to stream your PS5. Pick the console and click Connect.

Not connected: the console card says Offline, the picture area says Your console is waiting with a Connect button.
  1. 1
    The console card

The console this window controls, with its state: Offline, Connecting, Live or Rest mode. While it is not connected it shows the console's network address.

  2. 2
    Pencil: Saved consoles

Your paired consoles. Use this console switches to another one (while connected it asks first, because it disconnects the current one), Name renames it in the app only, and Forget the saved profile code deletes the remembered PS5 passcode.

  3. 3
    Add console

Pairs another PS5. See Add a console below.

  4. 4
    Connect

Starts the stream. On the same home network FutFriend connects over the LAN in a few seconds; anywhere else it goes over the internet (PSN), which can take about a minute. A PS5 in rest mode is woken up first.

  5. 5
    Connect in the bar

The same, from the control bar. While a connection is on, this button becomes ⏻: Disconnect, or Cancel connecting while it is still connecting.

While connecting: Finding the console and Remote Play are ticked, Video is loading, with the line PSN connected · waiting for video.
While it connects, the picture shows three steps: Finding the console (Waking the console for a sleeping PS5), Remote Play and Video. The line under them says what is happening, for example Connecting through PSN — this can take about a minute…

Add a console

Do this once where the PS5 is, with the computer on the same network. On the PS5 open Settings › System › Remote Play › Link Device: it shows an 8-digit code.

The Pair a PS5 dialog with one console found on the network, the name, IP address and 8-digit code fields and the Pair button.
  1. 1
Search for PS5 on the network

Finds the consoles on your network.

  2. 2
    Found consoles

Click yours. It also says whether it is on or in rest mode, and whether it is already saved.

  3. 3
    Name in the app

What the console is called in FutFriend.

  4. 4
    Console IP address

If the search does not find it, type its address (PS5: Settings › Network › Connection Status).

  5. 5
    Pairing code

The 8 digits from the PS5 screen. The code works for a few minutes and FutFriend does not keep it.

  6. 6
    Pair

Pairs the console with your PlayStation sign-in. It is then selected in the list: click Connect.

The Saved consoles dialog: My PS5 marked In use, a Name button, Add console and Forget the saved profile code.
Saved consoles, opened with the pencil on the console card.
  1. 1
In use / Use this console

The console this window uses. With more than one paired, Use this console switches; while connected it asks Switch console first.

  2. 2
    Name

Renames the console in the app. The name on the PS5 stays the same.

  3. 3
    Add console

    Opens Pair a PS5.

  4. 4
    Forget the saved profile code

Deletes the PS5 passcode this computer remembers. The PS5 asks for it again at the next sign-in.

04

The PS5 profile passcode

If your PS5 profile has a passcode, the PS5 asks for it when FutFriend signs in. The app then shows a keypad that matches the PS5's passcode screen.

The Enter your PS5 passcode keypad: four slots with two filled, keys for arrows, R1, R2, L1, L2, triangle and square, a Remember box and an Unlock button.
  1. 1
    Four slots

A dot for each button pressed. The code itself is never shown.

  2. 2
    ⌫

    Deletes the last button.

  3. 3
    The keypad

Your passcode is 4 buttons. Press them here the way you press them on the console: ← 1, ↑ 2, → 3, ↓ 4, R1 5, R2 6, L1 7, L2 8, △ 9, □ 0. You can also type the digits or the arrow keys, or press the buttons on a controller connected to the computer.

  4. 4
Remember this code on this computer and enter it automatically

Ticked by default. FutFriend keeps the code only once the PS5 has accepted it, and from then on enters it by itself. Delete it with Forget the saved profile code in Saved consoles.

  5. 5
    Unlock

Sends the code (Enter does the same). A wrong one: Code rejected — check the profile code.

  6. 6
    ✕

Closes the keypad. The amber row The PS5 asks for the profile code above the bar has an Enter code button that opens it again.

The control bar and its round buttons

Under the picture sits the control bar: what the bot is doing, a row of round buttons, Take control and the main button of the section.

The control bar during a match: 2:1, m2/3 · BOT v CPU, 57th minute, a timeline with goals at 13, 34 and 55 minutes, round buttons, Take and Stop.
  1. 1
    Score

In a match: the score, the match number (m2/3 is the second of three), BOT v CPU and the minute. The line under it says what the bot is doing.

  2. 2
    Timeline

The match from kick-off to full time. Filled dots are the bot's goals, hollow ones the CPU's; the tick in the middle is half-time.

  3. 3
    Round buttons

Pause, record, full screen, sleep and connection. One by one below.

  4. 4
    Take control

You steer the PS5 yourself. In a narrow window it is shortened to Take. See Taking control.

  5. 5
    Play / Stop

The main button: ▶ Play on the Play tab, ▶ Start on Trading, and ■ Stop while it runs.

The round buttons, left to right

  • Pause

Shown while the bot is busy: in a match, on the way to one, trading, or waiting to resume after a dropped connection. The bot lets go of the pad at once and the game keeps going. While paused, the button turns amber with ▶: Resume. See Pause and Resume.

  • Record match / demonstration

Records the PS5 picture and the buttons and sticks you use in the app, on this computer only, up to 45 minutes. It switches manual control on: you play. While it records, the button shows a red dot and the time; click it again to stop. The app then makes one video of about 0.5–1 GB, and Settings › Demonstration recording › Save for upload puts it on your Desktop as a zip. How to send it to us: Record your matches.

  • Full screen

The picture fills the window. At the top: the console's name and state, Take control and Close.

  • Put the console to sleep

Puts the PS5 into rest mode, whatever the bot is doing. If something is running it asks first. See Sleep and disconnect.

  • Disconnect / Cancel connecting

Ends the stream and lets the console go; while connected it asks Disconnect My PS5? first. While it is still connecting, it cancels.

  • Connect

In place of ⏻ when nothing is connected: connects the chosen console and wakes it if it sleeps.

Record and full screen need a live picture; the sleep button shows only while the console streams. A greyed-out button can't be used right now. Hover over any button to see its name.

06

Pause and Resume

Pause is for stepping in for a moment without ending anything. Resume lets the bot carry on from wherever the game is.

The control bar while paused: the label Paused · Squad Battles and the amber Resume button with a play icon.
  1. 1
    What the bot says

For example Paused · the bot let go of the pad — the match goes on.

  2. 2
    What is paused

Paused · Squad Battles, Paused · Draft or Paused · Trading.

  3. 3
    Resume

The amber ▶. It needs the console connected.

⏸ Pause

The bot stops pressing anything at once and lets go of the pad. The game keeps going: a match is not paused in FC, it plays on. Now you can play the match yourself or move around the menus, with Take control or your own controller.

▶ Resume

The bot carries on from wherever the game is now. In the menus it finds its way back on its own. In a match it pauses for a moment to check the teams and the score, resumes the match and takes it over. Trading goes on with the same session: the same card and counts. The session's time keeps running while paused.

  • While paused, nothing starts by itself, not even after a dropped connection. Only Resume does.
  • A Disconnect or a dropped connection keeps the pause. ▶ Play / Start, ■ Stop and Put the console to sleep end it.
  • Pause or Stop? Pause hands the game to you and keeps the bot's run ready to go on. Stop ends the run: a Squad Battles or Draft match is paused in FC and waits for the next Play.

Taking control by hand

Take control lets you drive the PS5 from the computer: with the on-screen pad, the keyboard or a controller connected to the computer.

Manual control: the bar shows You're in control and Hand back; under it the Controls panel with the Manual control switch, the on-screen pad and the list of keyboard keys.

    Ends manual control.

  3. 3
    Manual control

The same switch as Take control / Hand back, in the Controls panel. Next to it: the controller the app sees, for example Pad: waiting for connection.

  4. 4
    On-screen pad

    Click or hold: the arrows (D-pad), ✕ ○ □ △, L1, L2, R1, R2, Options and PS.

Keys that work as PS5 buttons, only while manual control is on. The full list is below.

  6. 6
    ✕

Closes the Controls panel and ends manual control.

The first button you press takes over from the bot. Trading or the running mode stops (Manual control took over), a match keeps going with you, and nothing restarts by itself after a dropped connection. When you are done, Hand back and press ▶ Play or Start again. To step in for a moment and let the bot carry on afterwards, press ⏸ Pause first, then Take control, then ▶ Resume: Resume hands control back to the bot by itself.

Sleep and disconnect

Two ways to let the console go. ☾ Put the console to sleep puts the PS5 into rest mode. ⏻ Disconnect only ends the stream; the PS5 stays on.

The question Put the console to sleep? with the reason A match is in progress, and the buttons Cancel and Put to sleep.
  1. 1
    Why it asks

A line for everything that is running: a match (the bot pauses it before the PS5 goes to sleep; a long sleep can lose the match), the way to a match, trading (it stops after the current step) or a recording (it is saved and stopped).

  2. 2
    Cancel

    Nothing happens.

  3. 3
    Put to sleep

Goes ahead. When nothing is running, the button doesn't ask at all.

What happens when the console goes to sleep

  1. The bot stops what it is doing. A Squad Battles or Draft match is paused, never quit; a recording is saved.
  2. It closes FC 27, so the game starts clean after waking. If a Squad Battles or Draft match is paused, FC stays open so the match can be finished later.
  3. It puts the PS5 into rest mode and lets go of the console at once. The row above the bar shows how far it has got.
The console asleep: PS5 is asleep on the picture, the row PS5 in rest mode with a Wake button, and Connect in the bar.
  1. 1
    PS5 is asleep

The console is in rest mode and the app has let it go.

  2. 2
    Wake

Wakes the PS5 and connects again.

  3. 3
    Connect

Does the same from the bar. Waking needs the PS5 to stay connected to the internet in rest mode (setup guide, Keep the PS5 reachable).

Disconnect

The question Disconnect My PS5? with the buttons Cancel and Disconnect, above the control bar.
  1. 1
    Disconnect My PS5?

Asked when you click ⏻ while the console streams. It goes away after a few seconds if you don't answer.

  2. 2
    Cancel

    Stays connected.

  3. 3
    Disconnect

Ends the stream. Trading and the running mode stop, and nothing resumes by itself.

In a match, press ■ Stop before you disconnect. Stop pauses the match in FC. Disconnect alone doesn't pause it: the match would play on with nobody on the pad. ☾ Put the console to sleep pauses it for you.

  4. 4
    Cost

Every new Draft costs 15,000 coins; the note shows the most it can spend. In this beta the Draft is paid with coins only, and an entry is never paid twice.

Play and Stop

▶ Play

The bot starts FC 27 if needed, goes into Ultimate Team and the chosen mode from whatever screen the game is on, sets the difficulty and plays match after match. In Squad Battles it picks opponents you haven't played and refreshes them after all four. Play works when the console is connected and nothing else runs: no trading, no recording.

■ Stop

Stops the bot. A Squad Battles or Draft match that is running is paused in FC, never quit. The next ▶ Play picks it up with Resume Match, plays it to the end and counts it.

  • While it plays, the mode, difficulty and numbers are locked: Stop play before changing the mode or difficulty.
  • During a match the bar shows the score and the timeline, and the console card shows the score and the minute.
  • When the set number is reached, the status says, for example, Done · 3 matches played. A Session summary shows the results, goals and the weekly points gained.
  • Not enough coins for a Draft: 15,000 coins needed; available: …, and the bot doesn't enter.

What the bot does after Start

  1. Goes to the transfer market from wherever FC is: a Draft, Squad Battles or the menus. If FC 27 isn't running, it starts it.
  2. Sets the player, the card version and your limit in the search filters.
  3. Searches again and again. When an offer at or below your limit appears, it checks the price on screen and buys it.
  4. With Buy and list, it lists the card for 1 hour at your sale price, with a start price a little lower than Buy Now, then searches on for the same player.
  5. Every few minutes it checks the transfer list: records the sales in Profit and clears the sold cards. Unsold cards stay listed.
  6. It works in stretches with short breaks, keeping the filters, and stops when the session time is up. A Session summary shows what was bought and sold.
  • Start needs the console connected, a card chosen and no matches or recording running (This console is playing matches · Stop the match bot to trade here).
  • Pressing a pad button by hand stops trading (Manual control took over). Use ⏸ Pause to step in instead.
  • If the connection drops during a purchase, the bot never buys again blindly: it checks the screen first and says if you should look at the transfer list.
11

Profit and player lists

Trading › Profit counts only confirmed purchases and sales. A card's profit is added once its sale is confirmed, after EA's 5% tax.

The Profit tab: net profit +6,900 coins, 11 cards bought, 9 sold, 2 left, a chart of the profit over time and a table of results by card.

Player lists

Trading › Lists keeps lists of cards. With Player list chosen on the Market tab, the bot takes turns with the list's switched-on cards: a random pick weighted by each card's weight, a series of searches per card, and a cooldown before the same card comes back.

  5. 5
    On · Edit · Delete

Switch a card on or off for the rotation, change it, or remove it.

Lists can't be changed while the bot works: Stop and edit stops it first.

Auto-resume after a dropped connection

If the connection to the PS5 drops while the bot is trading or playing, FutFriend reconnects and carries on by itself.

Reconnecting: Resuming… with Connection interrupted — retrying in 4.0 s and a Connect now button; an amber row with Cancel; the bar says Resuming.
  1. 1
    Resuming…

The app is reconnecting by itself. The line says what it is doing, for example Connection interrupted — retrying in 4.0 s.

  2. 2
    Connect now

Skips the wait before the next try.

  3. 3
    Cancel

Stops reconnecting, like Disconnect. Nothing resumes.

  4. 4
    Pause

Works while it waits too: the bot then doesn't carry on until you press ▶ Resume.

  • Once the picture has been back for 5 seconds, the app starts again what was running. Trading goes on with the rest of its session time; Squad Battles or Draft keeps counting the matches already played. It tries up to 3 times, 6 seconds apart.
  • A match that survived the drop is left alone: the bot is still playing it.
  • While it waits, the bar may say Connection lost — Trading resumes once the console is back or Connection lost — play resumes once the console is back.
  • Your own command cancels it: Start or Stop, Disconnect, Put the console to sleep, or a button pressed on the app's pad.
  • If the PS5 goes to rest mode by itself while the bot works, the app wakes it and carries on, at most 3 times in half an hour: The PS5 went to rest mode by itself — waking it to go on.

Phone app: coming soon

The FutFriend phone app for iPhone and Android is coming soon. It will be a remote for the app on your computer.

  • Pairing. Settings › Phone in the desktop app shows a 6-character code and a QR code, valid for 10 minutes. The phone and the computer have to be on the same Wi-Fi, or both on Tailscale when you are away from home.
  • From the phone you will be able to watch the live picture and the score, Pause and Resume, start and stop Squad Battles, Draft and Trading, put the console to sleep, and connect or wake it.
  • FutFriend has to be running on the computer. The PS5 passcode is entered on the computer.

Safety and good habits

Stay nearby

Please don't leave FutFriend unattended yet, and don't run it 24/7. Watch what the bot does, start with a few matches or a short trading session, and report every bug you see.

Keep the computer free

While the bot plays, don't load your computer with heavy work like games, video editing or big downloads: the bot reads the PS5 picture live and needs the processor to keep up.

Close FC before the PS5 sleeps

Use ☾ Put the console to sleep: it closes FC 27 first, then puts the PS5 into rest mode, so the game starts clean after waking. A paused Squad Battles or Draft match keeps FC open so it can be finished.

Your controller stays off

The bot plays with its own pad. Keep your controller off while it plays, or leave it in the middle on Select Sides.

Pause to step in, Stop to finish

Pause hands you the game and the bot carries on after Resume. Stop ends the run; matches are paused, never quit.

Closing the window ends everything

Closing FutFriend stops the bot and lets the console go.
